If he didn't have the parachute safety equipment onboard his plane, this accident would have never happened. He would have been flying with more precaution and looking outside the windows for other traffic. Chances are this survivor will die in some other careless way.
OOPS forgot to look for traffic
Even my small R/C model has a parachute installed. It just makes sense !
Doesn't matter if he was on the right, the FARs state an aircraft towing another has the right of way. Still, never should've happened, glad everyone walked away though.
I'm glad they're making these chutes. I had a near miss with a hang-glider that crossed my approach path, at a mountain airport. The first thing I saw was this figure of a body, and my propeller heading right for this guy's ASS, sticking out as his legs dangled down, and spread out. I did a 360 on the approach and he was gone on the second approach.
Nobody's perfect mate! It is inherently human that we are not very good at monitoring ALL the time, basic human factors. Many different factors are at play here, not just inattention. Unless you're an expert and personally interviewed all three pilots you can only speculate.
first of all why did he PULL UP! if the other plane is going up you go down! just sayin.. course i can say to do that but im not sure how i would react if thats actually what happened to me!
The guy who lost a wing is an example of why pilots of personal craft should wear parachutes. You would think the high wing could have glided, but the drag chute is gentler than gliding into a tree. The demo video of the low wing shows a need for spin training, maybe not a d-chute. In my ebook "First Flights", for pilots of electric RC park flyers, available from Smashwords, I instruct fliers to watch out obstacles in the way. I also note the need to apply down elevator for spin recovery.
Aircraft towing has the right of way - Yes, but only at the same altitude. Aircraft on right has the right of way - True, again at the same altitude. Aircraft climbing, into the flight path of another, regardless should yeild to the other pilot as the aircraft at a higher elevation cannot see down, and to their right... So, in a court of law, the pilot towing is at fault.
haha ill give you that one lol.. perhaps he was!
i think he was busy watching your mom cook for him
ha...last time i checked it is the pilots responsibility to be aware of ALL vfr traffic when operating in vfr conditions...the "i could not see him" routine is bs...should have been paying attention
he could not see down in that corner of his view
not only that an airplane towing a glider has the right of way....if this dude was paying attention this would have never happened...
Meh, maybe.
DUM Kopft!!!
We don't know. He might very well be in a steep stall where the effectiveness of the elevator became so minimal that he can't recover.
parachute for a plane... thats AMAZING!!!!!
Hmm, you know what? I think he was in a STALL. He could have just recovered...but oh well.
well there is no reason that the the aircraft was un flyable, he could just make an emergency lands on a road.
More small aircraft should be fitted with these life saving parachutes or sold pre fitted to new aircraft
Situational awareness is so important!!
It was a pilot error - should give way to ariplane on his right...
I flew with one for years in my harness for hang-gliders. Was one of the first to have one. Then one day years later, the owner did a presentation where he went to fire one off he had for a couple of years, and it didn't fire. Never found out if mine fired or not. Switched to flying gliders, then scuba diving and you don't need one for that. |
